Dalton Highway reopens after avalanche

FAIRBANKS, Alaska -- The Dalton Highway is passable, though reduced to one lane in some areas, after an avalanche forced a closure.

The Department of Transportation has been clearing the Friday morning avalanche at milepost 245 in the Brooks Range, where officials are advising drivers to use caution and be prepared to stop.

A Saturday morning advisory on the department's website says avalanche potential is high and maintenance vehicles and equipment are in the area.
