Multi-vehicle crash closes Seward Highway for more than 2 hours

The Seward Highway was closed for more than two hours Friday night after several vehicles and two trucks crashed at Mile 108, near McHugh Creek, the Anchorage Police Department said shortly before 9 p.m.

"Injuries don't sound life-threatening," APD said in a release.

APD, state troopers and medics all responded. The highway was reopened just after 11 p.m., police said.

Police said freezing rain was to blame for poor driving conditions. Shortly after 9 p.m. the National Weather Service announced a freezing rain advisory for Turnagain Arm through midnight.
