4 injured in multivehicle crash on Glenn Highway

A multi-vehicle crash in Anchorage Monday afternoon injured at least four people, including a toddler, and closed down a stretch of the Glenn Highway for hours, police said.

The Anchorage Police Department said in a statement that the initial investigation showed a Ford F-150 pickup was traveling northbound on the Glenn when it crossed the median dividing the inbound and outbound lanes and hit three other vehicles -- two sedans and a van. The crash occurred shortly before 2:30 p.m.

Police said four people had been taken to local hospitals as a result of the crash, including a 19-month-old passenger in a sedan who "was ejected while still strapped into the car seat."

The crash closed the inbound lanes of the Glenn Highway between Boniface Parkway and Airport Heights Drive. Police said in an alert around 7:30 p.m. that the highway had reopened.
