Fairbanks man accused of choking woman with snow

Alaska State Troopers arrested a man Sunday on multiple counts of assault after he allegedly choked and hit a woman at a Fairbanks home.

According to a Monday trooper dispatch, Fairbanks resident John Cook, 30, was taken into custody by troopers responding to a Sunday disturbance reported at a Fairbanks home.

"Investigation revealed (Cook) assaulted a female in the residence by shoving snow down her mouth causing her difficulty breathing and placing her in fear of serious physical injury," troopers wrote. "John also shoved the female causing her pain and struck her in the face."

Cook was charged with one count each of second-degree, third-degree and fourth-degree domestic-violence assault. He was held at the Fairbanks Correctional Center.

Court records show Cook was arraigned in Fairbanks Monday afternoon.
