Prep hockey: West, West Valley, East register victories

East 6, North Pole 2

Nicholas Eddens tallied a hat trick and East garnered a 6-2 boys hockey win over North Pole on Saturday at Ben Boeke Arena.

The Thunderbirds went into the second period up 2-1 before scoring a flurry of goals in the second period. All three of Eddens' goals came in the second period and Ryan Solberg added another.

North Pole received goals from Brandon Groesbeck and Darren Donovan.

West Valley 5, Dimond 3

West Valley scored three goals during a span of 99 seconds in the third period to rally past Dimond 5-3 Saturday at Ben Boeke Arena.

The nonconference hockey game was tied 2-2 after two periods, and the Lynx took a 3-2 lead with Tanner Dey's power-play goal three minutes into the third period.

About three minutes later, West Valley went on its scoring spree, getting goals from Jared Lees and Dylan Brabham in a 14-second span and adding insurance with a Masen Arpino goal less than a minute and a half later.

Dimond's other goals came from Tanner Rath and Ryan Perius. West Valley's came from Gabe Rankin and Jonah Henderson.

West 5, Lathrop 1

A hat trick from Tanner Edwards lifted West to a 5-1 win over Lathrop in a nonconference hockey game Saturday at Ben Boeke Arena.

Edwards scored the game's first two goals to carry the Eagles to a 3-0 lead after one period.

Lathrop answered with a goal from Corey Miscovich to make it 3-1 after two periods, but West sealed the victory in the third period with goals from Edwards and Jacob Cummings.

Blake Gutting made 20 saves for Lathrop, and Isaiah Seville had nine for the Eagles.
