Girls basketball: East, Dimond, Grace register victories

Dimond 59, Chugiak 49

Alexis Shipman hit 10 of 15 shots for a game-high 24 points that propelled Dimond past Chugiak 59-49 in a Cook Inlet Conference girls basketball game Saturday at Dimond.

Alissa Pili turned in 16 points and 17 rebounds for the Lynx.

Dimond jumped to a 22-13 lead in the first quarter and held off the Mustangs the rest of the way.

Chugiak got a boost from Nicole Pinckney and Randi McMullen, who each pumped in 19 points. McMullen added 11 rebounds.

East 57, Eagle River 14

Despite the absence of two injured starters, the East T-Birds rolled past Eagle River 57-14 in a CIC girls basketball game Saturday in Eagle River.

Freshman Azaria Robinson came through with 13 points in limited playing time and Amelia Houser contributed 11 points for the T-birds.

Shade Gopie and Chelsey Scott each scored six points for the Wolves.

Grace 43, Monroe 29

Annie VanderWeide hit for 18 points and Grace Christian held Monroe to three third-quarter points in a 43-29 victory Saturday.

The Grizzlies held a slim 17-15 lead at the half but outscored the visitors 10-3 in the third quarter to take command.

Hailey Hagan added eight points for Grace.
