Former Wrangell doctor gets 20 years in prison for child porn charges

A 54-year-old former Wrangell doctor was sentenced Tuesday to 20 years in federal prison, plus a $25,000 fine, for receiving and distributing child pornography, the U.S. Attorney's Office announced.

According to prosecutors, an FBI investigation revealed that Greg Alan Salard shared child pornography online in 2014. Investigators also found "hundreds" of child pornography images on his laptop, prosecutors said.

Salard was found guilty on July 28, 2015, after a 6-day trial.

Salard was previously employed by Alaska Island Community Services and served under a contract with the Wrangell Medical Center.
