No serious injuries in Midtown Anchorage collision caught on video

A dashboard camera caught video of a three-car crash in a busy Midtown Anchorage intersection during rush hour Friday morning, though police said the collision didn't cause major injuries or street closures.

The crash occurred shortly before 8 a.m., when a driver in a Toyota Camry traveling south on C Street ran a red light and collided with a Toyota FJ Cruiser and another vehicle entering the intersection traveling west on Northern Lights Boulevard, according to Anchorage Police Department spokeswoman Jennifer Castro.

"Video evidence shows that the light had been red for at least 3 seconds prior to the Camry entering the intersection," Castro said. The female driver of the Camry suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the crash and was taken to the hospital, Castro said.

Rusty Musick and a passenger were also westbound a few cars back from the intersection and caught the collision on a dashboard camera.

Musick said he offered the video to police and they picked it up later Friday morning.

The driver of the Camry was cited for running a red light, Castro said.

Musick said the crash was the first collision caught on his dashcam, though he said he's seen several near misses and "several red light runners weekly if not daily."
