Seward Highway lanes reopen after 5-car Midtown collision

A multivehicle collision with injuries temporarily slowed traffic on the Seward Highway in Midtown Anchorage on Wednesday morning.

Police spokeswoman Anita Shell said that by 9:30 a.m., all of the highway's northbound lanes had reopened. Part of the highway, between Dowling and Tudor roads, had been down to one lane since 7:45 a.m. due to the crash.

Shell said injuries had been reported but she didn't have immediate word on their extent.

"It looks like somebody crossed the median from southbound (lanes) into northbound lanes," Shell said. "It looks like five cars were disabled."

Police didn't have a total Wednesday morning for how many people were hurt or hospitalized after the crash.
