Class 2A boys: Unalakleet knocks off defending state champion Glennallen

Class 2A will crown a new boys state champion on Saturday night, thanks to Unalakleet's 57-53 first-round win over defending state champion Glennallen in Thursday's action at the Alaska Airlines Center.

Unalakleet will play for a shot in the title game at 7:15 p.m. Friday against Peterburg, a 47-26 winner over Bristol Bay.

Cordova dropped Point Hope 76-56 to earn a spot in the 9 p.m. semifinal against Unalaska, a 40-25 winner over Wrangell.

Unalakleet 57, Glennallen 53

Arctic Ivanoff pumped in 19 points and Unalakleet used a 13-6 free-throw advantage to end Glennallen's dream of another state title.

The Wolf Pack jumped to an 18-7 lead in the first quarter and held on for the win. They got 11 points from Taylor Harvey and 10 from Kadyn Erickson.

Jonathon Miller furnished Glennallen with 10 points and eight rebounds.

Cordova 76, Point Hope 56

Cody Sjostedt racked up 22 points and 10 rebounds to lead Cordova past Point Hope.

Cooper Jewell added 16 points and Zach Songer added 14 for the winners.

Leading the way for Point Hope were Mario Casados with 16 points and Patrick Turner with 13 points and nine rebounds.

Petersburg 47, Bristol Bay 26

Petersburg held Bristol Bay scoreless in the second quarter to pull away.

Wolf Brooks racked up a double-double with 10 points and 21 rebounds and Stewart Conn tossed in a game-high 20 points to lead the Vikings.

Bristol Bay, which trailed 25-7 at the half, got 12 points from Peter Goffe.

Unalaska 40, Wrangell 25

Trevor Wilson and Carter Price scored 30 of 40 Unalaska's points in the victory.

Wilson netted 16 points and Price added 14 for Unalaska.

Matthew Gerald's 11 points and eight rebounds sparked Wrangell.
