Alaska Permanent Fund Corp. hires new CIO

The Alaska Permanent Fund Corp. announced Tuesday that it has hired a new chief investment officer.

Russell Read has been hired to take the position, the corporation said on its website. His experience includes serving as the CIO of the California Public Employees' Retirement System for two years, as well as managing his private equity firm.

Read starts the job on May 9, with a starting salary of $400,000, the corporation said.

He will replace Jim Parise, head of fixed income for APFC, who served as acting CIO after the departure of Jay Willoughby in October.
