Alaska's Era Aviation nabs coveted award for airline reliability

According to an Era Alaska press release, Era Aviation, a wholly-owned subsidiary, was the recipient of Bombardier Aerospace's 2011 Airline Reliability Performance Award.

Bombardier, a manufacturer of planes and trains, is an advocate for transportation efficiency and safety. Award winners are selected based on review, efficiency and Bombardier's so-called FRACAS (Failure reporting, analysis and corrective action system) data. Era Alaska was selected based in part on its high performance in overall dispatch reliability in the North American region.

The award was received by Era Aviation's Director of Product Reliability, Steve Cotting, on behalf of Era Aviation at the Disney Atlantic Dance Hall in Orlando, Fla.

Era Alaska is the largest regional airline based in Alaska. Combined, Era Alaska and its family of partners -- including Era Aviation, Hageland Aviation and Frontier Flying Service -- have been flying since Alaska's statehood in 1959. A founder, Carl Brady, flew what was the first commercial helicopter in Alaska to work on a mapping contract for the U.S. government. Scheduled passenger services began in 1983.

Era offers scheduled dispatches to more than 100 communities across the state, including cargo and passenger services.
