Citizen oversight for TAPS?

According to the Anchorage Daily News, Cordova-based Copper River Watershed Project has received a federal grant that will allow it to lead the effort to expand citizen oversight of the Trans-Alaska Pipeline System. The story notes that citizen watchdogging of the oil pipeline has lagged behind other transportation systems, like tankers, because the pipeline hasn't been involved in a major disaster. A spokesperson for Alyeska Pipeline Services Co., which operates the pipeline, said the company didn't know enough about the oversight plan to comment. Read much more here.
