'Ice Road' trucker considering run for federal office in N.W.T.

According to CBC News, Alex Debogorski, a cast member of the television show "Ice Road Truckers" known for his hearty laugh and outgoing personality is considering a run for office to represent the Northwest Territories in Canada's federal government. Though he is still deliberating, the Yellowknife-based reality star and professional driver says he has gotten a couple of phone calls recently encouraging him to run because they're dissatisfied with current Conservative Party candidate Sandy Lee. Debogorski says he has always been interested in politics, but that he has been on the road for the past two months and still needs to discuss things with his family. Read much more, here. And by the way, Debgoroski isn't the only interesting candidate in northwestern Canada thinking about gearing up for the May 2 elections. The Yukon News has a neat feature this week on a martial artist and former professional cage fighter who has hung up his gloves to become the Conservative Party candidate to challenge the Yukon's popular, long-time incumbent Liberal MP Larry Bagnell.
