Alaska Airlines may have topped the list of airlines for customer service this summer, but a gaffe made by a technician on July 28 sent some passengers into a frenzy.
The Sacramento Bee reports that a passenger on an Alaska Airlines flight glanced out of their seat window to spy what appeared to be a damaged area on the wing with a handwritten note saying “We know about this.”
Passengers took to Twitter, naturally, and other social media sites to voice their opinions.

Spokeswoman Bobbie Egan told the Sacramento Bee on Tuesday that the damage was an approved trim repair to the corner flap on the right wing. The note was scribbled by a maintenance technician to let the flight crew know that they were aware of the damage.
Egan said, "The message was the result of someone's good intentions" but that it "was not appropriate and did not follow company procedures."
The note was promptly removed, and the Seattle-based airline apologized for any alarm the note may have caused passengers.
