Kenai Fjords will travel the world as a new stamp from the US Postal Service next month. On Oct. 1, a new series of Earthscapes stamps will be released, featuring an aerial view of Bear Glacier, Seward City News reports.
Bear Glacier is the oft-photographed glacier flowing from Seward toward Harding Ice Field, the largest glacier of around 40 that carve the landscape of the Kenai Fjords National Park in Southcentral Alaska.
The Bear Glacier stamp is one of fifteen in the new series of “Forever” stamps – stamps which retain the full value of a stamp, currently set at 45 cents a pop, even when the price increases. The Earthscapes series features aerial views of natural, agricultural and urban landscapes. Also featured in the series is a volcanic crater spouting ash, a vivid, steaming geothermal spring and a bright red cranberry harvest, among others.
