New Alaska game rule: No 'catch and release hunting' with Tasers

If any classic Alaskan yahoos out there were considering "hunting" animals by incapacitating them with a Taser long enough to pose for a picture, they should consider themselves warned. According to the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner, the as-yet unreported practice has now been outlawed by a prophylactic measure enacted by the Alaska Board of Game. Wildlife officials have found the personal protection devices useful in dealing with various wild animal problems, and under the new rule, their use will continue to be an option for professionals. The new rule doesn't prevent Alaska residents from Tasering wildlife in defense of life and property, but the Department of Fish and Game warns against the untrained use of the devices and against treating them as a primary defense against wildlife attacks.
