According to the Homer News, Lonnie Lambert of Ninilchik has secured a federal patent for a fishing net design that solves a couple of problems that have plagued river dipnetters for many, many years. Lambert's "inter ring" system suspends the net bag off of a smaller, detachable ring that runs around the inside of the main support ring. The design speeds up net changes and basically eliminates the chances that the net will break at its points of attachment. Most conventional dip net designs suspend the net around the outside of a single ring, exposing the web to abrasion. Read much more, and see a few photographs, here.
