Portion of Coastal Trail to close for crack repair

According to a Municipality of Anchorage press release, as part of the first stage of the first major renovation of the Tony Knowles Coastal Trail since it was built in the 1980s, the city will close off a one-mile section of the trail to repair pavement cracks and other surface problems that pose hazards to trail users. Beginning Aug. 1, the trail will be closed between milepost 4.1 and 5.1, just south of Point Woronzof. During the repairs, the trail won't be accessible to the public for safety reasons, so the Municipality is cautioning people to take alternate routes.
