Code Yellow! The Alaska Volcanic Observatory raised Mount Redoubt's alert level to "advisory" and its aviation code to "yellow" Monday afternoon after a series of small earthquakes started up at 1:44 a.m. The quakes were still shaking Monday afternoon.
The AVO reports it's possible an eruption might follow the quakes. The activity could also produce a volcanic ash cloud, hot gas, rock avalanches, and a failure of the lava dome.
