Why wait? Alaskans can vote now.

Can't wait to mark your ballot for former Gov. Mitt Romney or President Obama? Alaskans don't have to. Alaska Lt. Gov. Mead Treadwell announced Monday that voters can start receiving and returning election ballot electronically.

Alaska voters anywhere in the world – from Afognak to Afghanistan – can request a ballot by email or fax. The ballot will show up within 48 hours and voters can use a web-based ballot-return system or send them back by mail or fax.

This system launched in September for military and overseas voters. Others must wait until 15 days before Election Day to apply for electronic ballot delivery, according to Alaska state law.

The Alaska Division of Elections website contains a direct link to the application for online ballot delivery here: After filling out the form, email, fax or mail it back to the Division of Elections to receive your ballot.
