In Anchorage and want to see some live music this week? You're in luck.

For some reason, there's a ton of live music in Anchorage this week. Maybe it's because we're in the height of summer, or because of the cheap airfare to Alaska; maybe it's Brexit — who knows. Whatever the reason, here are your options.

Milky Chance

This German duo has cooked up an unusual concoction of folk, reggae and electronic music, epitomized by their hit "Stolen Dance." They'll play at Moose's Tooth this Thursday, July 14. Doors open at 6 p.m., show starts at 7 p.m. Tickets cost $45 in advance, $50 at the door.

Tumbledown House

San Francisco-based Tumbledown House mixes gritty salon jazz and modern speakeasy music. Doors open at 7 p.m., show starts at 8 p.m. at Tap Root Public House Thursday, July 14. Tickets $10 in advance, $13 at the door. 21 and over only.

Super Saturated Sugar Strings, Pikal, Alex the Lion + Fredzilla

Williwaw is hosting a free night of music that kicks off with a double bill local showcase featuring romping gypsy rock band Super Saturated Sugar Strings and power pop band Pikal. Keeping the party going will be dance music from Alex the Lion + Fredzilla. Oh, and did we mention it's free? 9 p.m.-1:30 a.m. Friday, July 15, at Williwaw.

The Werks

With plenty of psychedelic shredding, ululating organ and synthesizers, The Werks will be working to get you dancing at 49th State Brewing Co., 717 W. Third Ave., Friday, July 15. Show starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15 in advance, $18 at the door. Playboy Spaceman opens. Ages 21 and over.

Sara Peacock

Hailing from Georgia, Sara Peacock is a little modern country, some alternative, folk and classic rock and a lot of sultry vocals. Doors open at 6 p.m. Show starts at 7 p.m. Playing at the Tap Root Friday, July 15. Tickets are $12 in advance, $15 at the door.

Hazia/ShyBones/Sophia Street

This triple bill will feature indie and alt-rock favorites Hazia, ShyBones  and Sophia Street at Tap Root. Doors open at 9 p.m. show starts at 10 p.m. Friday, July 15. Tickets $5 in advance, $7 at the door.

Strangled Darlings

Strangled Darlings brings the heavy rhythms, grooves and spectacular mandolin playing, drawing inspiration from authors like William Faulkner and Gabriel Garcia Marquez. Playing at Tap Root on Saturday. Doors open at 6 p.m., show starts at 7 p.m. Saturday, July 16. Tickets $7 in advance, $10 at the door.

J Boog

J Boog will brighten up downtown with a sunny mix of island music, Jamaican reggae, rock and R&B this week. He'll be joined by Hot Rain Band, as well as Siaosi and DJ Westafa and local island band H3 for the 3rd annual Midnight Sun Island Music Fest. Show starts at 6 p.m. Saturday, July 16. Tickets are $35 in advance, $45 at the door at Humpy's Great Alaskan Alehouse on Saturday.

Nervis Rex

Alaska ska band Nervis Rex will bring a high-tempo, high-energy show to the Sitzmark in Girdwood this Saturday, July 16. Doors open at 9 p.m. Show starts at 10 p.m. Free.

Anna Lynch Band

Anna Lynch's hard-hitting Americana and bluegrass music will be showcased Saturday at Tap Root. Rumor has it she's headed the way of so many other great Alaska bands — to Portland. So catch her while you can. Doors open at 9 p.m. show starts at 10 p.m. Saturday, July 16, at Tap Root. Tickets are $7 in advance, $10 at the door.

Prof

Minneapolis rapper, singer and songwriter Prof will play at Chilkoot Charlie's this Saturday, July 16. Doors open at 9 p.m., show starts at 10 p.m. Tickets are $25 in advance, $30 at the door.

Spectrum Music and Arts Festival

This one's not in Anchorage, but if you're in the mood for a road trip there will be plenty of bands, DJs and performance artists at the newly constructed Sandy River Ampitheatre in Willow for Spectrum festival. Bands include The Jeffries, Dutchess, Termination Dust and many more, and there's a lineup of no less than 31 DJs. Tickets $75 in advance at spectrumfestivalalaska.com, camping included.
