AK Quarantunes: Mari Hahn performs Schubert’s ‘Litanei’

Soprano Mari Hahn is a versatile performer of opera, art song, oratorio, music theater and jazz. She has performed frequently with the Anchorage Concert Chorus including the Defiant Requiem under Murry Sidlin, the St. John Passion and the War Requiem. She is a professor of voice at the University of Alaska Anchorage and directs the UAA Opera Ensemble. In demand as a clinician, she is a certified Alexander Technique instructor and conducts workshops in the U.S. and Canada.

“Litanei” is a German Lied (Art Song) by Franz Schubert that honors departed souls and comforts those who grieve them. Hahn said she hopes that the power of music and words in these troubled times can bring some solace to those who listen.
