Wine of the week: 2006 Cabernet Franc, Camaraderie Cellars

Cabernet Franc is the unsung hero of Bordeaux. There are some very famous wines produced from it, like Cheval Blanc, but then the French never tell you what's in a bottle anyway -- just place and name. So the varietal names like Malbec, Carmenere or Cabernet Franc aren't that well known. One you have to check out is the 2006 Camaraderie Cellars. It's tremendous, with beautiful aromatics, eucalypt menthol, spice cedar and cherry. The mouth feel is great, and there is just enough tannin for length. Being an '06, there is a bit of bottle age, further adding to its complexities. This wine drinks well beyond its suggested retail of $22. What a deal! Serve it with things that go moo. Cheers!
