Wine of the week: 2011 Pinot Noir

Sanford Vineyards in Santa Barbara County, Calif., has a new line of chardonnay and pinot noir they call Flor de Campo. It means "wild flower" and these wines are indeed beautiful. Today we are looking at the 2011 Pinot Noir. Vibrant cherry and raspberry fruits race around the pallet with plenty of strength and vigor. While not strongly tannin, this medium bodied wine has plenty of flashy fruit. The aroma pressure is ample, showing classic pinot noir nuance of cherry and strawberry-velvet. Serve with a variety of dishes from white meats, pastas and of course our own salmon! Costs about $25.
