Latest Aces signings: Goalie Summerhays, forward Currier, both of Anchorage

The Alaska Aces announced hockey homecomings on Thursday -- the ECHL champs have signed rookie goaltender Steve Summerhays of Anchorage, fresh out of Notre Dame, and second-year forward Tyler Currier of Anchorage, a former UAA skater.

Summerhays is coming off a terrific career for the Fighting Irish that included a school-record 13 shutouts, seven of them last season, when he went 21-14-2 with a 2.04 goals-against average and .923 save percentage.

Summerhays, who turns 24 in about a week, after Notre Dame's season ended played two games with the ECHL's Fort Wayne Komets, going 2-0-0 with a 1.92 and .922.

Currier, 26, played last season as a rookie for the Missouri Mavericks of the Central Hockey League, posting 4-5--9 and -6 totals in 35 regular-season games and adding a goal and a +2 rating in four playoff games.
