Letter: Threatened honor

I have never personally met Sen. Lisa Murkowski or Sen. Dan Sullivan. I don’t know if they are corrupt individuals. I don’t know if they habitually lie, if they obstruct law officers from performing their duties, or if they have weakened United States security for their own personal gain. My guess is that they would do none of these things, that they have some sense of honor.

But now that honor is threatened. If they vote to acquit a president whose has indeed committed all of these dishonorable acts, some of that dishonor will also fall on them. Their vote of acquittal will mean that they too are stained with the corruption that they will have aided and abetted. Their vote in this impeachment trial will not only be a judgment on the president but also on their own sense of virtue.
