Letter: Look at the big picture

Reading the editorials by the staff at the Anchorage Daily News concerning the homeless crisis reminds me of the time I took a small engine apart and then realized I didn’t know that much about the subject.

Thousands of people became homeless when entry-level jobs were shipped overseas so that people could get a cheap pair of tennis shoes and a hundred other products. The number of people with some form of learning disabilities is underestimated and half the people leaving some schools in America can’t read or comprehend at acceptable grade levels. There is no acceptable way these people fit in the new economy.

There are a lot of reasons for a person to become homeless, but like the editorials in ADN, I don’t believe we are looking at the big picture.
