Campaigns for most Alaskans include five different seats to vote for. Voters can apply for absentee ballots from alaska.gov/elections now. Early voting starts Oct. 24, every day at 2525 Gambell Street, or at Anchorage City Hall.
Les Gara for governor is my choice by far. Mary Peltola for Congress. Elvi Gray-Jackson for Alaska Senate. Pat Chesbro for U.S. Senate. Your “second choice” will come into play if your first choice doesn’t have enough votes. Democracy is at stake.
Former Gov. Bill Walker and Sen. Lisa Murkowski both made choices that endangered abortion rights. Walker’s administration sought to restrict those rights in court in 2015. Murkowski voted for all the new Supreme Court justices now making abortion effectively illegal in many states.
Wake up, Alaskans. Know their past votes, as that defines them.
