Letters to the Editor

Letter: What are convention backers hiding?

I’ve seen countless social media posts, advertisements, letters to the editor, and op-eds urging Alaskans to vote yes on having a constitutional convention.

But I’ve yet to see any backer of the the idea identify a single specific change to the Alaska Constitution that he or she wants. Instead, we get cloudy generalities about how circumstances change and we need to change with them. The recent op-ed from Robert Myers (Oct. 9) is the latest example.

The devil is always in the details. What are these people hiding? Why won’t they tell us what they want to do to the constitution that has served Alaska so well since we became a state six decades ago?

They should put up or shut up.
