Letter: Support Ukraine aid

Am I the only American who is disgusted by the outrageous attack by Vladimir Putin’s Russian army on a clearly defined sovereign nation of Ukraine? If this situation does not jar people’s memories of aggressive history in Europe in the not-so-distant past, what else can occur to raise people’s concern?

The only thing more despicable than Putin’s fallacious excuses for his attack is the horrid Republican caucus in Congress that knowingly realizes the disastrous potential outcome of this invasion. GOP members continue to withhold valuable available aid to this country that is fighting for its existence and is only the first domino in Russia’s desire to reunite its false ancient empire.

I chide myself for invoking such a time-worn axiom; however, it seems unequivocally true that “those who do not know history are doomed to repeat it.” Death and destruction of Ukraine citizens are the direct results of this Congress that has no political, moral or ethical conscience other than hindering any Democratic proposals to move forward. Unquestionable is the fact that to move the country positively, a — blue — sea change must happen.
