The multi-block awards in the BP World Ice Art Championships were awarded on March 11 in Fairbanks. First place in the Realistic Category went to the team of Edwin Hutchinson and Daniel Howell, both of South Carolina, Heather Brice of Fairbanks and Angelito Baban of the Philippines, currently working in Washington, D.C. Their depiction of the "Cinderella" story, "A Fairy Tale Goodnight," included the belle descending a grand staircase to meet her awaiting prince, accompanied by a pumpkin, clock showing midnight and other elements of the story. It also won the Governor's Award and the Facebook Viewers' Choice award.

The first place award in the Abstract Category went to Ivan Zuev and Eduard Ponomarenko of Russia and Sergey Streitsov of the United States for "Alaskan Tambourine," which included a man striking an oversize Native drum surrounded by fantastic animal sculptures. It also won the Artists' Choice award. The giant ice sculptures will remain on display at the George Horner Ice Park through March 27, weather permitting.
