The full moon rises over this Chugach Mountains in this view from Westchester Lagoon at about 7:25 p.m. on Tuesday, October 7, 2014.

It was a good night for sky gazers. The full moon rose just after sunset Tuesday and set on a pink horizon the morning Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2014. In between, a full lunar eclipse caused the moon to appear to have a rusty hue of red. The "blood moon," the second such eclipse this year, began at about 1:25 a.m.
