Photos: Uncle Joe's Pizzeria in South Anchorage

Back to school: A phrase that strikes fear in the hearts of children everywhere. And moms. Or, at least, me. Lazy days now give way to complicated schedules, carpooling coordination, homework, PTA meetings and meals. So. Many. Meals. Summer's all-day grazing sessions (scrambled eggs for dinner, cereal for lunch) give way to nutritious breakfasts, brown-bag lunches and seriously refueling dinners.

Which is where pizza comes in. In my house, pizza night is a weekly ritual providing a respite for the chef in the house (can you guess who that is?) and guaranteeing at least one meal where my kids clean their plates.

Luckily, our "local" is Uncle Joe's Pizzeria on the Old Seward Highway.
