Juneau man will bring home Paralympics medal in wheelchair rugby

Seth McBride of Juneau will leave the Paralympics with a medal in wheelchair rugby.

He'll find out what kind of medal on Sunday, when the United States meets Australia in the gold-medal match in Rio de Janiero.

The Americans held off Canada 60-55 in a semifinal game to secure either gold or silver. It will be the third Paralympics medal for McBride, who won gold in 2008 and bronze in 2012.

Although he didn't play Saturday, McBride scored six goals in Team USA's first three games, wins over France (51-42), Sweden (54-44) and Japan (57-56).

A 2001 graduate of Juneau-Douglas High School, McBride was paralyzed in a ski accident the same year he graduated. He's 33 now and lives in Seattle.
