‘Last big race of the season’ at Alaska Raceway Park

Alaska Raceway Park owner Michelle Maynor held “the last big race of the season” at her drag-racing track near the Butte on Sunday. The 1/4-mile drag strip at the motorsports complex was originally opened in 1964.

“We’ve got a lot of cars from all over Alaska,” said Maynor. “We’ve got everything from junior dragsters to snowmachines, motorcycles, pro mods, alcohol and nitro funny cars.”

Racing continues on Labor Day with Top Eliminator and Points races.
