Eagle River 20, Bartlett 4

Eagle River exploded for an American Legion win over Bartlett Post 29 at Chad Bax Field on Saturday.

The game was tied 4-4 after two innings, but Eagle River scored four runs in the third, five runs in the fourth and seven runs in the fifth, forcing the game to end by the mercy rule.

Eagle River catcher Zach Weller went 4 for 5 with 5 RBIs and Shane Robertson went 3 for 4 with 4 RBIs.

Kyle Youngs and Travis Ahlgren each tripled for the Wolves. Youngs was also the winning pitcher.

Bartlett's Cade Scott went 2 for 3.

Wasilla 12, West 1

Wasilla Post 35 piled up the runs in a Legion win over West Post 1 at Kosinski Fields on Saturday.

"Everybody was hitting the ball pretty well," said Wasilla coach Steve Mossburgh.

Taylor Palmer led the Warriors, going 4 for 4 and scoring three runs. Wesley Smith went 2 for 3 with two runs. Matt Packa and Jonathan Boyer each contributed two hits and one run.

Wasilla's Dominic Comerate earned the win, allowing five hits and striking out one in four and one third innings. Nate Graber pitched for the final two outs, ending the game by the mercy rule in five innings.

Mossburgh said the defensive play of the game belonged to David Newman who made a spectacular catch in the gap preventing two West runs from scoring and maintaining a 3-0 Wasilla lead.

South 9, Kenai 8

Kenai Post 20 scored seven runs in the top of the sixth, but couldn't complete the comeback, losing to South Post 4 in a Legion game at Kosinski Fields on Saturday.

South's Matt Ilalio hit a two-run, inside-the-park home run in the bottom of the fifth inning, giving the Wolverines a 9-1 lead.

Jack Ryan pitched five innings to earn the win for the Wolverines.
