West opens flag football season with a shutout

The West Eagles opened the flag football season with a shutout Friday, beating Service 26-0 in a Cook Inlet Conference game at West High.

Rebecca Syrup threw for 220 yards and three touchdowns, finding Raymi Ross six times for 153 yards and two touchdowns and connecting with Diana Fuerte-Dominguez three times for 32 yards and one touchdown.

Anchoring the West defense were Maya Baquiran (seven pulls, one for a loss), Mailee Baquiran (five pulls) and Raleigh Robinson (two interceptions).

Elizabeth Johnson rushed for 41 yards on seven carries to lead the Eagles on the ground.
