Dimond scores late to remain undefeated in flag football

Dimond 19, Bartlett 14

After trailing the entire game, the Dimond Lynx flag football team scored the game-winning touchdown with four minutes left Wednesday to remain undefeated.

Victoria Johansen's 2-yard run lifted Dimond to a 19-14 win over Bartlett in the Cook Inlet Conference game at Bartlett.

The Golden Bears (1-5) owned leads of 7-0 and 14-7.

Dimond (6-0) made it 14-13 on Megan Luther's 67-yard second-half touchdown run.

Luther, who added a 15-yard TD run in the first half, finished with 181 yards on 20 carries. Johansen finished with 110 yards on 16 carries.

Leading Dimond's defense were Mariah Youngmun (nine pulls), Makenna Boring (eight pulls, one for a loss) and Meghen Jones, who intercepted a pass for the second straight game.

West 21, Chugiak 6

West quarterback Rebecca Syrup threw passes to eight different receivers and racked up 219 yards Wednesday in a 21-6 CIC win over Chugiak.

Syrup completed 12 of 23 passes with two touchdowns and two interceptions.

She threw touchdown passes to Diana Fuerte-Dominguez (two catches for 79 yards) and Maya Brannan (two catches for 17 yards) and a 2-point conversion to Raymi Ross (seven catches for 49 yards).

Defensively, the Eagles (4-2) limited Chugiak (3-3) behind the play of Ryleigh Robinson (five pulls, one interception), Mailee Baquiran (six pulls) and Mailee Baquiran (four pulls, three for losses).
