Holy Rosary soccer team wins twice to reach tourney semifinals

Holy Rosary Academy rode wins over Tri Valley and Lumen Christi into Saturday's semifinals of the Tri Valley coed soccer tournament in Healy.

Holy Rosary swamped Lumen Christi on Friday morning, 8-0, and held off Tri Valley 4-2 on Thursday.

In the match against Lumen Christi, the Knights got hat tricks from Jake Siebs and Zach Smith. Jacob Rogers added a goal, Zachary Smith handed out two assists and Lumen Christi scored an own-goal.

In the win over Tri Valley, the Knights built a 3-0 halftime lead on goals from Zachary Smith, Atlin Bell and Jake Siebs.

Tri Valley scored two straight goals in the second half but Holy Rosary earned some breathing room in the 38th minute with Siebs' second goal of the match,.

The Knights take on Cook Inlet Academy in a morning semifinal game. The winner will face Delta Junction in the 2 p.m. championship match.
