Prep hockey: Dimond, South, Service grab wins, West ties

Dimond 8, East 3

East goaltender Lane Fox made 54 saves but it wasn't enough to stop Dimond, which skated to an 8-3 Cook Inlet Conference win Saturday at Ben Boeke Arena.

Brendan Anaruk scored five points and Gavan Hardy had four to lead the Lynx. Anaruk handed out four assists and scored one goal, and Hardy posted two goals and two assists.

Dimond led 2-1 after the first period and extended the lead to 6-3 in the second period. Lynx goalie Gabi Gibson faced just 17 shots and stopped 14 of them.

South 5, Chugiak 2

Hunter Schmitz delivered a goal and two assists to spearhead South in a 5-2 CIC hockey win over Chugiak at Ben Boeke Arena.

Five players scored for the Wolverines, who took the lead for good on Schmitz's goal midway through the second period to go up 2-1.

Grant Epple tallied a goal and an assists for the Mustangs.

Service 3, Lathrop 0

Service's Ben Martensen scored a short-handed goal early in the first period and the Cougars didn't look back in a 3-0 nonconference hockey win over Lathrop at Ben Boeke Arena.

Service goalie Kevin Taunton nabbed 15 saves in the shutout. Lathrop goalie Zachary Herron had 24 saves.

West 2, North Pole 2

A third-period, power-play goal by North Pole's Cody Frary evened the score in a 2-2 tie between West and North Pole in a nonconference hockey game at Ben Boeke Arena.

West goalie Will Simpson and North Pole goalie Moses Halbert each recorded 28 saves.

Chugiak played South and Dimond played East in late games Saturday.
