5 rescued by good Samaritans in Bering Sea (VIDEO)

Five rescued by good Samaritans in far western Alaska: A locator beacon signal originating 69 miles west of Adak, the westernmost community in Alaska, was resolved Sunday when the good Samaritan vessel Aleutian Beauty saved five people adrift in a lifeboat after their 59-foot fishing vessel caught fire. The U.S. Coast Guard reported that it had assets en route to the signal when the stranded mariners were picked up. The stricken vessel Western Venture, based out of Kodiak, was still adrift Sunday evening, and a notice to mariners was out warning them of the drifting, unlit vessel in the Bering Sea.
