State sets up relief hotline for Bering Sea storm victims

Alaska residents in the direct path of November's major Pacific storm now have access to relief efforts through an Alaska Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management hotline.

Those needing assistance with damaged homes, personal property and modes of transportation are encouraged to call (855) 445-7131 between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. to apply for assistance through the Individual and Family Grant program.

Applicants should be prepared with lists of damage, ownership documents, insurance information and personal identification.

If a home has become unlivable due to the storm, call to inquire about eligibility for the Temporary Housing Program.

The deadline to apply for assistance is Feb 3, 2012.
