3 hospitalized, 1 with life-threatening injuries, after Sunday collision at busy Anchorage intersection

One person has life-threatening injuries and two others were hospitalized after a crash near Northern Lights Boulevard and Lake Otis Parkway early Sunday, police say.

Police responded to the intersection at 8:35 a.m. because a sedan and SUV had collided, the department said in an online statement.

“It appears one of the vehicles ran a red light; officers are currently working to confirm if that is the case, and if so, who was responsible,” police wrote.

A passenger in the sedan and the driver of the SUV are expected to survive their injuries, but police said the driver of the sedan is in critical condition.

The intersection and southbound lanes of Lake Otis Parkway were closed Sunday morning but reopened that afternoon.
