A Valdez man died Thursday afternoon in a crash on the Richardson Highway, Alaska State Troopers said.
Preston Welter, 35, was driving a Dodge pickup around 1:50 p.m. when it was involved in a two-vehicle collision at Mile 82, near the cutoff to the Edgerton Highway, troopers wrote in a statement.
Welter died at the scene and all other people involved were taken to Cross Road Medical Center in Glennallen for injuries that were not life-threatening, troopers wrote.
The two vehicles involved were impounded and being held during the investigation, troopers wrote. No additional details about the collision or what may have caused it were included in the statement.
