Motorcyclist from Florida killed in collision near Tok that left another rider critically injured

A Florida man died Thursday evening in a collision involving two motorcycles and a pickup south of Tok, Alaska State Troopers said.

Sherjung Dhillon, 40, was driving a motorcycle southbound near Mile 112 of the Tok Cutoff Highway when he and another southbound motorcyclist collided with a northbound Dodge pickup around 6:20 p.m., said Austin McDaniel, a spokesman for the troopers. Investigators are still determining how the collision happened and if the motorcyclists were riding together, McDaniel said Friday.

Both motorcyclists were critically injured, troopers said. Dhillon died on the way to the hospital. The truck’s driver, who was alone in the vehicle, was not injured, McDaniel said. The highway was closed as troopers documented the scene and tow trucks removed the motorcycles and truck, he said.

The 125-mile Tok Cutoff Highway begins at the Richardson Highway in Gakona and ends in Tok, where it meets the Alaska Highway.
