Woman reports attempted sexual assault on trail near Anchorage's East High School

A woman reported an attempted sexual assault while jogging near East High School Wednesday night, Anchorage police said.

The woman was running in a wooded area on the trail system south of the intersection of Bragaw Street and Northern Lights Boulevard when an unidentified man attacked her from behind, police said in a statement. The woman was able to fight off her attacker and sought assistance from a passerby, police said.

The runner described her assailant as a man in his late teens or early 20s with short-cropped hair. The suspect fled the area on foot and was still at large Thursday night, police said.
