Man hit by car near Dimond Center has died, Anchorage police say

A pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle earlier this month near the Dimond Center died Saturday, the Anchorage Police Department said Tuesday.

The man was on foot on the southwest corner of the intersection at Old Seward Highway and Dimond Boulevard on March 5 when he was hit by an Audi sedan at 12:27 p.m., police spokeswoman Renee Oistad said by email.

The man was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries and Oistad said he was still hospitalized when he died.

The driver stayed on scene after striking the pedestrian, Oistad said. No citations or charges had been filed by Tuesday.

“The dynamics of how the crash occurred, and who is at fault, is still being determined,” police wrote in an online statement.

The man’s identity has not been released and police said they are working to notify his next of kin.

This is the fourth pedestrian fatality of the year.
