Man wounded in Anchorage shooting

A man was shot and wounded early Tuesday in what Anchorage police described as a drug-related shooting. The shooter and a getaway driver were still at large.

Calls at about 2:15 a.m. reporting a single gunshot, then "a male yelling for help," led police to the 4400 block of Mountain View Drive, according to a statement. The victim, who suffered a gunshot wound to the torso, was taken to a hospital and was expected to survive.

"The victim claims he was on foot when a red four-door sedan pulled up, a … male passenger exited the vehicle and demanded that the victim give him his possessions," police wrote. "The suspect male then shot the victim, got back into the vehicle, and left."

Evidence found at the scene led police to determine the incident was drug-related, APD's Renee Oistad said. Nothing was apparently taken from the victim.

No further details on the shooting or the suspects involved was available Tuesday morning.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call APD at 907-786-8900 or contact Crime Stoppers at 907-561-STOP or through its website.
