Two people were taken to an Anchorage hospital Monday evening with life-threatening injuries after a shooting in the Mountain View neighborhood that Anchorage police said was likely drug-related.

Officers responded to reports of a shooting at 6:57 p.m. on the 500 block of North Pine.

A preliminary investigation determined that the shooter and one of the victims met and got into a fight, according to a police dispatch Tuesday morning.

"The suspect shot the victim multiple times in the upper body," police said. "The second victim, in the area at the same time, was shot multiple times in the upper body.

"Detectives … are also trying to determine why the second victim was in the area."

The suspect fled, and there was no description or further information to release Tuesday, according to the dispatch.

Police were looking for information including surveillance video related to the shooting. Anyone with information is asked to call dispatch at 311 (Option 1). To remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 907-561-STOP or online at www.anchoragecrimestoppers.com.
